Sometimes you have mixed feelings about a belonging, as with beautiful artwork from someone who no longer communicates with you. If possible, remove it from your view and notice how you feel. If you feel better, that’s a cue to let it go or store it away. If you feel worse or actively miss it, then maybe the beauty overrides the association and you can place it in another location of your home. A third option is to have the item in view and place a beloved item next to it for balance.
