Sometimes you have mixed feelings about a belonging, as with beautiful artwork from someone who no longer communicates with you. If possible, temporarily remove it from your view and notice how you feel. If you feel better, that’s a cue to let it go. If you feel worse, then maybe the beauty trumps the association and you can put it in a different place in your home. A third option is to bring a beloved item close to the one for which you feel ambivalent to experience some balance.
