Your Favorite Place: Listening for Your Heart’s Home

What would it be like if each person could magically right now move to their favorite place in the world?

I imagine some people would remain right where they are because they’ve found such comfort and created deep roots in a place they love in a community of people they enjoy. Some folks might want to clone themselves because they love many different places. Choosing a favorite would be too challenging.

For others the answer to this question may be as simple as “My bed!” Another might say “My living room. “ or “My garden, porch, or backyard.” A favorite place might include a coffee shop, restaurant, art gallery, library, candy store, or national park. It could be an entire country such as Italy, Sweden, or India. I recently heard an amazing description of Croatia that piqued my interest in the possibility of visiting.

Whether you love the ocean with the sand, sun, and warmth, the liveliness of urban settings, the desert, the mountains, or the prairie flatlands most likely your heart is drawn to a place because it feeds your five senses, you notice you feel happy either actually being there or thinking about being there. Maybe this place inspires you because it’s filled with kind, interesting, eclectic, or even exotic people. On the other hand it may be a favorite place because your beloved ones and your pets live there.

Recently I experienced NYC and had an amazing time meeting new people, eating delicious food, visiting the Rubin Museum of Art, and attending the very moving celebration of the International Day of Peace at the UN. I’m beginning to notice that wherever I go I’m in a great place because I’m experiencing a deep sense of home in my soul, a comfort in my own skin, and a recognition that there are loving and interesting people all around me with stories to tell. My inner world, which is full of the greatest amount of peace I’ve ever known, seems to continue to match my experiences of the outer realities. Some might say I’m attracting this or manifesting this. What I can see is that listening to my heart and intuition and saying yes to experiences of greater inner peace, wholeness, and joy open me to unlimited outside places that uplift and inspire.

Do you have a favorite place? What is yours and why?
